I’m as much a fan of Evite and Socializr as the next girl, but you gotta love a real invitation.  Bringing in the mail, I always flip past the junk mail, the bills and credit card offers, looking for some real mail.  You can easily spot an invitation, with its hand-written address, an actual stamp in place of metered postage and the thickness of cardstock inside a white or better-yet colored envelope.  Oh joy!  It’s exciting to open it up to see what event you have been invited to.  After all, it is an honor to be the recipient of an invitation – you are among the number of poeple hand-picked to join the festivites.  Maybe it’s a cocktail party, a baby shower, a child’s birthday party or an engagement party.  No matter what the occasion, it feels that much more special if the invite comes on a real invitation.  Someone has taken the time to carefully choose the appropriate card to convey the mood of the event.  They have written the words, selected a font, a color…each detail further carrying out the theme and style of the event.  You can feel the weight of the card in your hand and detect the quality of the paper, printing, and the embellishments as you smile at the elegant or even comical wording.  Now I ask you…can a run-of-the-mill Evite in your Inbox evoke this much emotion?  Can an electronic invitation portray the feeling, colors, theme and attention to detail of the upcoming event?  I think not.
